Travel Guide: Beautiful Beaches of Bulalacao  Oriental Mindoro

Oriental Mindoro is one of the Philippines’ unexplored tourist paradises, if I may say so. It’s a land generously blessed with beaches, azure waters, happy people, and year-round festive towns. With that said, I have always had the beaches of Bulalacao in my bucket list, but never got the chance to cross it out, until recently—thanks to Department of Tourism MIMAROPA Director Minerva Morada, I, along with other writers, were invited to none other than the beautiful province of Oriental Mindoro!

PUERTO GALERA

The province’s foremost asset is Puerto Galera, blessed with one of the world’s most beautiful natural harbors. Known as the Pearl of Mindoro, it is world-famous for splendid beaches, coral reefs, and exquisite dive sites for new and experienced divers alike. There are shallow coral gardens, interesting rock formations, and colorful species to watch, like crabs, shrimps, sea anemones, moray, and trumpet fishes.

San Teodoro – Adyawan Festival

This festival is celebrated coinciding with the feast of Immaculate Conception. The activity displays the many uses of coconut – from its leaves, trunks, down to its root. Adyawan is one variety of this “tree of life “ that is common among the Iraya-Mangyans of San Teodoro. This festival further highlights the culture and tradition of this indigenous group, making them realize that they are part of the community manifested in the town’s festive way of holding the celebration.

It showcases the different varieties of banana like the Senorita, the Latundan, the Lacatan and the Saba.
